A local heating engineer based in Exeter

I’m Ben Blyth, a Gas Safe registered heating engineer and plumber, and the owner of Lombardi Heating.

Lombardi Heating is based in Exeter and covers Exeter, Alphington, Topsham and nearby areas. I started the business to build the kind of company I would want to deal with myself: straightforward, reliable, well organised and focused on doing the job properly.

My work is mainly focused on boiler installations, boiler servicing, boiler repairs, landlord gas safety certificates and general central heating work. I also carry out selected plumbing work, alongside my main focus on heating and boiler work.

Why I started Lombardi Heating

Before moving into the trade, I worked as a Project Manager in the corporate world. A later property redevelopment project brought me into closer contact with plumbing and heating work, and also with the frustration many customers experience when workmanship and service fall short.

That played a big part in my decision to retrain and build a business around a higher standard of work. I wanted to create a company built on good communication, careful workmanship and doing the job properly rather than rushing through work or cutting corners.

Training, standards and how I work

I’m a Gas Safe registered engineer and plumber, and I have continued to invest in training to improve the standard of work I can offer.

That includes Heat Geek Mastery training and Kimbo Betty’s Northampton Heating Academy, both of which have helped me build a stronger understanding of low-temperature domestic heating, system performance and energy-efficient design.

For customers, that matters because good heating work is about more than simply changing a boiler or replacing a part. The wider system, controls, system protection, setup and overall finish all make a difference to reliability, efficiency and long-term performance.

My aim is to carry out work that is safe, reliable and properly thought through, with long-term performance in mind.

A direct and consistent service

Lombardi Heating is an owner-led business, so when you get in touch, you deal directly with me.

From the first enquiry through to quoting and the work itself, I stay closely involved throughout. Larger jobs and boiler installations are carried out by me with support from Cholwe, my apprentice, which helps keep the standard of the work consistent.

I believe that matters. Customers should know who they are dealing with, what is being recommended and what the next step is.

Why the name Lombardi?

I’m a Tampa Bay Buccaneers supporter, and they won the Super Bowl in the year I set Lombardi Heating up, so the name already meant something to me.

The Super Bowl trophy is the Lombardi Trophy, named after Vince Lombardi, whose views and outlook I admired, particularly around high standards, inclusivity and equality. That made the name feel like a good fit for the kind of business I wanted to build.

I’m proud to serve homeowners, landlords and local property customers across Exeter and the surrounding area.

A large part of my work comes from word of mouth, repeat customers and local recommendations, which is exactly how I want the business to grow.
