Plumbing and heating system for a renovated home in Heavitree
We worked on a 1930s semi-detached home in Heavitree that was being renovated throughout, with an extension added and the original plumbing and heating system still in place.
The property had old and outdated pipework, a lead incoming water main and a gravity-fed hot water setup that was no longer suitable for the renovated home. We replaced the incoming main, moved the stop tap to a better location, ran new hot and cold pipework throughout the house, and installed new plumbing for a downstairs bathroom and a relocated upstairs bathroom.
The heating and hot water system was also modernised, with the property changed to a pressurised system with an unvented cylinder, underfloor heating downstairs and radiators upstairs. As part of the pipework design, we also added isolation points so areas such as upstairs, downstairs and outside can be isolated from a central point, making future maintenance simpler and less disruptive.
The result was a properly planned plumbing, heating and hot water system for a renovated home, rather than trying to build a modern layout around old pipework.
